1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
These verses remind me of the attitude I should have and how God wants me to live. Even if I do not always know what is in the future for me, I do know what God wants me to do RIGHT NOW!
That is such a good verse, Mandy! I love verse 16: "Be joyful always.." Easy to say, not so easy to do! It's a nice reminder for me that I CAN find joy in ALL things, even when it seems like there is nothing to joy in. Praise God for His abundant grace, love, and joy. :) My favorite Bible verse is Jude 1:24-25:
"To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord before all ages, now and forevermore, Amen!"
For me, this verse serves as a shout of praise. How amazing is our God, Our Father, that He can take us ( broken and human as we are) and hold us next to His chest as beautiful children!
I like so many different verses and don't really have a favorite, but I love Romans 8:28; "In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Mandy, I also love 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. I love pretty much the whole chapter of Philippians 4!! It reminds us not to be anxious but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. It also talks about what thoughts are God-glorifying.
Rachel stole my favorite verse. ;) Romans 8:28 has always been encouraging for me, because in every situation, I know that God can turn around what Satan meant for harm and make it work for the good. Actually, I really like ALL of Romans 8! It is such a great passage about God's love for us!
Mandy, this is my first time visiting your blog spot - I like how you've put it together!
I actually have 1 Thes 5:16-18 on my kitchen windowsill - love that one. Another of my favorite is Matthew 6:25-26 (it's a good reminder for myself on the not-so-good days) "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in the barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
